James Gillespie (1647-1695) and Isobel Paterson (1641-1707). Expanded from the original chart published c 1900. Branches of this family grew with many members becoming prosperous merchants in Scotland and elsewhere and involved in setting up international trading. Several branches immigrated notably to Ontario, Victoria BC, Australia and London where they further prospered in commerce and government.I am a descendant of this family, being in the branch of George(1827-1900) and Elizabeth (1827-1890) who settled and Hamilton Ontario. Over the years I have been fortunate to have received from pervious generations many family records and artifacts. My goal is to produce an updated family tree.
